Spring Trout Fishing
Never fished, but want to give it a try? This is the time of year when fly anglers and trout fishermen have more options on where to cast a line.
Did you know? More than 100,000 trout fishing licenses are sold annually in Georgia, according to Georgia DNR (Dept. of Natural Resources).
Toward the end of March, catchable-sized (9-11 inches) rainbow and brown trout will begin to be stocked in the waters throughout the Chattahoochee River and tributaries above Helen. Come summer, the opportunities to fish for wild trout improve within the Chattahoochee’s headwater streams. Where are the best spots to fish? Georgia DNR has a map for you!

Onstage
When you’re ready to kick off your evening, make your way to Marina Station for a casual dinner and live music. Marina Station is on the grounds of The Ridges Resort on Lake Chatuge and is a short walk from your room!

  Rock out with top Georgia musicians who will play the best of STYX and Kansas, blending these masters of classic and progressive rock into one incredible show.

The nearly 100-year-old John C. Campbell Folk School in nearby Brasstown, NC is a bastion of the arts and culture of this Southern Appalachian region. Join everyone at the Folk School’s Festival Barn for the concert series featuring regional and national musicians performing eclectic roots music. – most on Fridays, and some Thursdays.   Lewis puts a traditionalist brand on his outlier country. His latest album, Frayed at Both Ends, offers the working man’s country star at his most personal and unplugged.

  Country music’s hot new supergroup of former frontmen in bands means you’ll sing along with the songs that are soundtracks to your life.
• Dustin Lynch: Killed the Cowboy Tour – April 20
  The Tennessee native has earned industry recognition as a Grand Ole Opry member – you’ll want to stay country when you hear the show.

The Rhododendron Festival at Hamilton Gardens
April 12 to May 12
This enchanting botanical garden is filled with native wildflowers like trilliums, shooting stars, and trout lilies, and more than 1,500 rhododendrons and native azaleas – the largest collection in the Southeast! Self-guided tours ($6 donation) are open daily with special events on the weekends:

• Local musicians onstage from 12-3 p.m.
• Art Exhibits 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays
• Seminars and classes on Sundays
• Wine and Mimosa Bar opens at 12 noon, sponsored by Crane Creek and Hightower Creek wineries

The Hamilton Gardens Courtyard will be open to the public for brunch and lunch in the garden with delicious cuisines from food trucks, gourmet dessert and coffee vendors, organic homemade ice cream as well as tempting charcuterie boards. More info
