The Smith Creek at Anna Ruby Falls is a major tributary for the Chattahoochee River, traveling throughout the state of Georgia all the way into the Gulf. The many organisms living within these pristine waters are vital to maintaining the overall health of our ecosystems. From salamanders to crayfish, many of these animals inform us of potential pollutants in the water just by their presence or absence. Join us at the picnic area for an investigation into the aquatic world, where you may observe these indicator species and even contribute to citizen science by recording field data for Georgia’s Adopt-A-Stream program! Our streams keep our forests healthy and provide habitats for much of Georgia’s biodiversity. Discover the many organisms living within them that could not live without them.
