Hiawassee Music on the Square
Concerts on the Square in Hiawassee are held each Saturday evening through the summer months.
The Dixie Tornadoes is a “throwback” Country Rock Band that Plays 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s Country Music. Started as a fun project to play the songs which everyone else had quit playing, Greg Henderson, ( vocals and guitar), called his friends, David Shipman,( lead guitar), and Jerry “Wolfgang” Wofford, ( bass and vocals), about playing the songs which folks used to call “Country”. To round out the group, Ricky Silvers performs on drums.
The band borrows from the music of Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, George Jones and others.... along with some of Greg’s original creations.
You are guaranteed to recognize most of the songs they play, and they cordially invite you to sing along!
This will be a fun evening and a tribute to Classic Country songs.
Bring your lawn chair and your family and friends . The VFW Auxillary will be selling hot dogs , chips and sodas.
These Summer Concerts are presented to the folks of Towns County and surrounding areas by a small group of dedicated volunteers. The concerts are funded by audience donations and by the kind support of sponsors, Sundance Grill, Servpro, Farmers Insurance, Banister Funeral Home, McKinney Heating and Air, and State Farm Insurance. We thank you all !!!!
