There are so many reasons to visit the Lake Chatuge region of North Georgia. The Hiawassee and Young Harris areas offer championship golf, amazing hiking trails to waterfalls and overlooks, horseback riding, fly fishing, water sports and tennis, as well as arts, crafts, antiquing, wineries, concerts, and festivals.
From an intimate bluegrass pickers’ show to (soon to be) sold-out performances by some of country music’s bests, you are in for a good time to be immersed in authentic music of the region. Plan your trip with music on your mind:
Fiddlers in the Round
From weekly contra dancing to their annual Fall Festival, the 98-year old John C. Campbell Folk School offers a diverse selection of events for students, visitors, and residents. Friday Night Concerts in Keith House feature some of the finest regional and national acts performing eclectic roots music. Donations are welcome and you can find standard seating, along with a family-focused social area in the Library and Lower Keith. Concerts are scheduled for most Fridays, but check the schedule online.

Mac Arnold’s first band included James Brown on piano. Mac moved to Chicago and Muddy Waters hired him on the spot. He toured and recorded with the Muddy Waters Band and recorded LPs with Otis Spann and John Lee Hooker. Mac moved to Los Angeles and originally produced the dance and music TV show, Soul Train, with his friend Don Cornelius. He played bass on the Sanford & Son TV show when he wasn't playing bass for Otis Redding and B.B. King. Mac is an organic farmer and lives in Pelzer, South Carolina. He’s back with his own band and a "plate full" of CDs, building a new foundation in blues, soul, and funk.
