A mix of ‘Saturday’ Night Bluegrass and ‘Sunday’ Morning Gospel. Julie Nelms and Sonny Reighard present a mix of iconic bluegrass classics ranging from the music of The Country Gentlemen to Roy Acuff. 

Julie Nelms studied traditional Appalachian Music at Berea College and obtained a master’s degree in Irish music and literature at the National University of Ireland - Galway. Highly skilled, Julie glides heartwarming and foot-stomping melodies expressively from the fiddle; and her dynamic harmony achieves the “high lonesome” unique to bluegrass sounds. Julie is nothing other than a powerhouse, attracting open ears and eye’s tears. 

Sonny Reighard, with his wealth of musical experience, is sure to entertain with his singing, guitar, claw-hammer banjo, comedy, and good looks. This duo promises to bring a smile to the faces of not only Bluegrass purists but also those who are new to the genre, presenting tunes and songs for all to enjoy. When Sonny’s not entertaining Folk School folks on stage you can see him out in the surrounding fields spreading the, just the sweetest manure with glee. Famous for half tuned humor and happy hearted history, having him here is always a treat.
