Founded in 1925, John C. Campbell Folk School is a non-profit organization offering adults over 850 weeklong and weekend classes year round in traditional and contemporary craft. Our classes cover a variety of disciplines, including art, music, dance, cooking, woodworking, blacksmithing, and more. We invite all students and visitors to become a part of the Folk School and the Brasstown community through our public concerts, dances, presentations and meals.
We are currently in our 95th year, which is a huge accomplishment. In 2025 we’ll be celebrating our 100th anniversary!
We are especially proud of one thing: our longevity. Being around for 95 years, we couldn’t have gotten here without the support of our students, staff, and the local community. The Folk School holds values of joy, kindness, stewardship and non-competitiveness close to heart, and it is the basis for everything we do. We believe in fostering life-long growth that keeps learning alive and sparks self-discovery in our visitors. At the Folk School, we do good work. Once our students leave, we always hear from them that the Folk School changed them. The term we use to describe it is “Folk School Magic”. Nothing really compares to it!
We joined the Lake Chatuge Chamber because through it we are able to advertise, post our upcoming events, and add events to the calendar to spread the word across Towns County and North Georgia. This Chamber consistently inspires us with how well they do. We’ve also had the chance to be part of a variety of events, trainings, and meet & greets that are massively beneficial!
