The holiday magic never stops at Lake Chatuge. Whether squeezing in as much Christmas as possible or looking for the perfect party to ring in the new decade, there are plenty of ways to celebrate and enjoy that special holiday magic in Lake Chatuge this December. The charming North Georgia mountain getaway is teeming with Christmas lights, Gingerbread Villages and plenty of festive events this holiday season.
Crane Creek Vineyards is celebrating the season with two festive events this month. On December 21, the Young Harris vineyard will welcome winter with their annual Winter Solstice Bonfire. Starting at 5:30 p.m., guests are welcomed to this sprawling mountain vineyard to witness the lighting of the Solstice Bonfire, chasing away the longest night of the year. A complimentary chili bar will be available to all who attend, and wine will be available for purchase.
Then, on December 31, Crane Creek will ring in 2020 with a rip roarin’ Wild West New Year’s Eve Bash. Sure to be a rootin’, tootin’ good time, this reservation-only shindig will feature catered dinner, an open bar full of Crane Creek favorites, party favors and a midnight champagne toast. The Foundry will play live music all night, making sure there’s plenty of boot scootin’ tunes for the night’s hoedown. This Western-themed celebration is $125 per person and has limited availability. Reservations can be made by visiting
Over at Brasstown Valley Resort, the halls are fully decked for the holidays. Colorful and uniquely decorated Christmas trees can be found in just about every nook, cranny and hallway of the resort. This, along with the hotel’s Gingerbread Village display, make it one of the most festive places to be in Lake Chatuge.
Guests can take in these decorations while celebrating the beginning of a new decade at Brasstown’s annual New Year’s Eve Gala. This year’s theme of Silver Jubilee will celebrate the resort’s 25th birthday with live music, an open bar, dinner buffets and a ball drop at midnight. Guests can purchase a package that includes a room and full party access, or purchase tickets to the party itself. Those opting for the New Year’s Eve Guest Room Package will receive champagne and chocolate in their room, as well as access to the breakfast buffet with morning cocktails the following morning.
No holiday season is complete without seeing those beautiful, twinkling and colorful Christmas lights. Scataway Road, which juts through the rolling North Georgia mountains, is the perfect place to take a leisurely drive and spot some of the best light displays in town. The Buchanan Family Christmas Lights, a massive display of over 100,000 twinkling lights and 30 inflatable Christmas friends, illuminate the entire street with holiday cheer from Thanksgiving to January 2. It’s a 30-year tradition that has delighted locals and brought in holiday fans from all over.
