Celebrate a sparkling Independence Day at Lake Chatuge
Fourth of July is a time to gather with friends and family, enjoy warm, summer weather, celebrate the independence of our nation and, of course, take in stunning firework spectacles. At Lake Chatuge, our weekend of Independence Day celebrations simply can’t be missed. Just a short drive away from metro cities like Atlanta, our mountain paradise will be full of holiday activity, and our secluded location offers the perfect skies to see big, booming and beautiful firework displays. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite, must-see Independence Day events below!
Parade Through the Waters of Lake Chatuge
On Saturday, July 3, our sparkling lake will be dotted with beautiful shades of red, white and blue as residents and visitors alike cross our waters for the annual Boat Parade! Starting at 10:15 a.m., parade participants will line up in Sunset Bay behind the Captain’s boat and proceed to the shores of the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds to show off their creatively decorated and patriotic watercraft. The best boats will receive prizes of up to $50. To watch the parade and enjoy the fun, bring a chair and set up in the Fairgrounds’ boat ramp area! If you have a boat you’d like to enter, you can register by calling the Lake Chatuge Chamber at 706-896-4966. Boats must be registered to participate for a prize!

Soak in a Spectacular Show at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds
The following night, Sunday, July 4, the Fairgrounds will also host a perfectly patriotic fireworks show. Locally loved musicians, the Vintage Vixens, kick off the night with live music from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. At 9:45 that evening, the skies will be lit with beautiful, colorful fireworks. Pack some chairs, grab some snacks and head on over to the Fairgrounds for a celebration that’s fun for the whole family!
