Event Description:

THE COMPOSITION & FORMS OF LANDSCAPE DRAWING by Juli Sibley

8 Sessions, Thursday, September 19 – November 7, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

This course focuses on pencil drawing as a way to develop a finished drawing.  By using graphite pencil to plan a picture plane, and to separate values to create form and shadows in a drawing.  We'll study and learn from artist Theodore Kautzky.  His magnificent drawings will show us hillsides, forests, rocks, mountain scenery and more.  You will receive copies of his drawings to learn the specifics of creating wood textures (on houses), stone walls, near and far shrubbery and flowers, etc.   This artist teaches us specific techniques to create and display nature's changing arrangements in varied light conditions.

The class is suitable for beginner or advanced. Materials required: 2B and 4B drawing pencils, #2 school pencil and 9x12 or larger sketch pad or paper.

Juli Sibley is a designer, teacher and writer from Young Harris, GA.  As a student at YHC many of her inspirations for art came from the natural beauty of this valley.  Her latest book, "Earth Friendly Fabric Design" is available worldwide on Amazon.com.  She holds a MA in Fine Art from Western Carolina University.   Most recently, she has been a member of the art faculty at Augusta State University where she taught the art history section of World Humanities.
