8 Sessions - No Special Requirements other than COVID guidelines.
If you want to learn the best card game in the world then this class is for you! You will learn the basics of Party Bridge including bidding, playing the hand and scoring. Researchers have discovered that mentally challenging games such as bridge are well suited for older people because the game offers intellectual and social stimulation on a routine basis. A study in 2000 at UC Berkeley found strong evidence that the area in the brain used in playing bridge stimulates the immune system. Researchers suggest that it is because players must use memory, visualization and sequencing. So, come have fun and improve your brain!
After living in Roswell for 25 years we retired to Hiawassee just 3 months ago. My love of bridge started when I turned 50 and read in the paper that the Senior Center was offering an 8 week beginner bridge class. I signed up along with several of my tennis friends. We were immediately addicted. After the 8 week course we started a weekly Monday game beginning with Party Bridge and then we got a little more serious and moved on to Duplicate. About 5 years ago I wanted to take my game further and joined the ACBL where you play for master points. I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach this great game to other seniors.
