SUMMARY:Holiday in the Mountains at the Folk School
DESCRIPTION:Join us from December 8-13 for Holiday in the Mountains Week at the Folk School! Throughout the week\, experience a traditional ensemble of events and historical presentations in the Keith House Community Room. Events are offered at no cost and are open to the public! \n\n\n\nBeginning on Monday\, December 8 from 4:45-5:45 p.m.\, Annie Fain Barralon will present on traditions\, stories\, and celebrations that make the winter season special at the Folk School. Also on Monday night\, a Holiday Honky Tonk with the Alum Ridge Boys & Ashlee will feature jubilant classic country favorites and holiday tunes with concert seating and space for dancing.  \n\n\n\nWednesday\, December 10 at 4:45 p.m.\, join Harry Baughn\, Harrison Keely\, Virginia Mattox\, and Janice Minette in Birth of the John C. Campbell Folk School- A One Act Narrative for Four Voices on the founding story of the Folk School\, written and directed by Richard Montfort Cary. At 7 p.m.\, enjoy the special reading of A Christmas Carol. For nearly 20 years\, Bob Grove brought this magical story to the community. The candle has been handed down to Harrison Keely. He will share the usual fair\; a short history of English author Charles Dickens and a reading of the story. After the reading\, scoot the chairs to the side for a performance by Brasstown Morris Dancers.\n\n\n\nOn Thursday December 11\, from 5-6 p.m.\, sing-along holiday carols in Keith with Brasstown Ukulele Group. Then the party will move up the hill to the Crown Restaurant for an open community jam session at 7 p.m.\n\n\n\nFriday\, December 12\, the Craft Social is scheduled from 7 9 p.m. Bring a project to work on at the Craft Corner or stop by to see instructor work\, watch demos\, learn\, and socialize.\n\n\n\nA donation of $5-15 per adult is suggested for some of the events\, but all are welcome regardless of contribution. Any funds raised help with equitable pay for performers.
